PURPOSE OF THIS SITE
We believe God gave us minds and expects us to use them. But he also gave us hearts with which to love God and other human beings.
Not even the most gifted theologian or philosopher fully comprehends the nature or work of God, which will always remain something of a mystery. But God has given us significant hints about both through the life and teachings of Jesus. There are good reasons for why we have only incomplete knowledge.
The principal objective of this website is to show why Christianity, however incomplete our understanding of it may be, is rooted in knowledge that God has given us, why faith in God through Christ is important. The site is intended to address difficulties that may stand in the way of connecting with God.
Our purpose is to raise and attempt to provide well-reasoned answers to questions and obstacles that may stand in the way of developing faith.
These are the specific goals in support of that objective:
To provide food for thought, especially for people dissatisfied with superficial or pat answers about religious or spiritual questions.
To address religious questions honestly, including ones to which no one has yet to offer a completely satisfying answer.
To demonstrate Christianity's plausibility by showing how it is as reasonable as any other alternative on the market.
To communicate clearly, without technical jargon from theology, philosophy, or psychology.
To invite you to contact us with questions we may not have addressed.
Our original intention has evolved
Almost thirty years ago, we obtained the internet domain name, christians.org. Our initial vision was to use it as a way to provide brain food for Christians.
Over the years, it became apparent that this vision was too limited because it is also important to respond to objections raised by sincere skeptics, some of whom are searching for meaningful faith.
We are interested, therefore, in addressing those gnawing issues that appear to call Christian faith into question. Such issues can be wide-ranging, from whether faith is archaic and unscientific to the character and personality of the Jesus.
The site presents brief summaries of Clinton McLemore’s book, Addressing Obstacles to Christianity: Intelligent Faith for Seekers and Skeptics.
